Numerical Simulation of Delamination Growth under FatigueLoading

Abstract


This paper presents an implicit algorithm to simulate delaminationgrowth under fatigue loading when the growth is governed by the Paris law. It is basedon the weak form of the law, the resulting non linear problem being solved by theNewton method. This algorithm was first compared to the explicit Euler and improvedEuler schemes on a DCB specimen loaded in mode I and then applied to thedelamination growth simulation in a rectangular plate submitted to a compressiveloading. Accurate results were obtained with large values of the number of cyclesincrement.
