The mesh of the two specimens is carried out using meshes linear C3D8R with eight nodes (see Fig. 16). The cruciform welded plate constitutes of 30150 elements and 35343 nodes, on the other hand, the butt-welded plate constitutes of 33100 elements and 37434 nodes. In the content of crack, it is particularly refined for modeling in local approach. Figure 16 : Mesh used for two specimens. R ESULTS AND DISCUSSION n this section, finite element calculations were performed by considering a linear-elastic material behavior. The Young’s modulus and the Poisson’s ratio were set equal to E= 220 GPa and ν = 0.3 (parameters of steel). Results achieved for the K and G evaluation are shown in Fig. 17a and 17b. It is seen that the K values and G for cruciform weld are greater than those calculated for butt weld, until a = 1,5 mm, the K values and G for cruciform weld are lesser than those calculated for butt weld and the difference between both values increases with increasing stress amplitude.
