The values of ultimate resistance F max and corresponding horizontal displacement w Fmax obtained by the IDEA StatiCa solver are compared with the data stated in reference [2], see Tab. 1. Some improvements might be obtained by refining the model and increasing number of load steps and the requirements for the precision of iteration. The results of non-linear analysis were tested against the moment-normal force interaction diagram, both calculated in IDEA StatiCa. Moment-normal force response of critical section of the column was calculated using both force and displacement control of non-linear analysis. Displacement control analysis is in excellent agreement with the ultimate limit state of critical cross-section, see Fig. 5.
