Abstract


The paper presents some of the results obtained in collaboration with the Industrial
Engineering Dept. of the University of Cassiono analysing the ENEA(DISP experimental data relative to
the research on the safeness of mechanical applications performed between 1979 and 1987. The research
is focused on fracture performance of steel pipe type A106B, at room temperature. In this paper the GE
EPRI engineering approach is examined and its prediction are compared with tridimensional finite
element analyses on 4’’ and 11 mm thick pipe hosting 90°, 135° and 180° through wall cracks.
