Abstract

Understanding the behavior of metals and composite materials behavior, development of appropriate constitutive equations, and defining fracture mechanisms in the dynamic loading regime continue to evolve. Models developed must include an accurate representation of the physical processes occurring, be mathematically tractable, and incorporate the appropriate material parameters. Examination of these issues in the context of metals and composites is the focus of this paper.
